This government building located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris was designed by French architect Auguste Perret in 1939. Of classical inspiration, it is built of reinforced concrete. Perret is widely recognized for giving concrete its reputation as a noble building material proving that it could rival stone in terms of elegance.

There are several spaces that could be of interest for photo/TV shoots or events, notably:

  • the monumental staircase

  • the colonnaded Salle Hypostyle

  • the Hemicycle

  • the colonnaded exterior

THE MONUMENTAL STAIRCASE

The monumental staircase which appears to be freestanding with no visible support structure has a double spiral in the shape of a heart or horseshoe.
